The BJP on Sunday announced the names of 120 members, elected from Uttar Pradesh to the party’s National Council. They included Prime Minister Narendra Modi from his Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh from Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from Gorakhpur, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya from Prayagraj, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak from Unnao, former Union Minister Smriti Irani from Sultanpur, among others. Announcing their names, party’s Central Election Observer and Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that the BJP is the world’s largest political organisation, and the global community is astonished by its disciplined and democratic functioning. “In the journey from 2014 to 2025, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the mindset and the way of working changed. At the international level, India’s identity also changed. Today, wherever we go carrying the Indian passport, the honour and respect one gets abroad as an Indian, it was never the same before 2014,” Goyal said.
