The meeting, chaired by Amit Shah in Siliguri on Saturday, was attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari along with representatives of various organizations and other stakeholders from the hill areas. Senior representatives of the central and state government also participated in the meeting. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the meeting discussed in detail all issues related to the hill people of West Bengal, including the demand for separate identity, permanent political solution and recognition under the Constitution of India. The Home Ministry said that Amit Shah has assured an early permanent political solution. He also sympathetically discussed other demands of the community. Shah said that adequate funds from the Center will help resolve the pending issues.
