After the BJP's spectacular performance in the Gujarat civic elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah targeted Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi by referring to the SIR. He asked if the Congress has not been able to win Gujarat for 41 years. Is it also because of the SIR? He said that the country is with the Prime Minister today. The Union Home Minister said that Rahul Gandhi should be ready to lose once again in the 2026 Lok Sabha elections. He said that Rahul Gandhi should learn from the victory of the BJP and the Congress should introspect about its defeat. Home Minister Amit Shah said that Rahul Gandhi is protecting infiltrators under the pretext of the SIR. He said, "Today elections were held for three municipalities and a municipal corporation in Gujarat. The Bharatiya Janata Party won a landslide victory and 90 out of the total 104 seats in these two municipalities and a municipal corporation. In Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, which comes under my constituency, the BJP won 38 out of 44 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party contested all the 32 seats, but Narendra Modi's victory in every seat shows the mood of the people of Gujarat.
