Assam Election Row: Congress Leader Accuses CM's Wife of Holding Foreign Passports and Assets

The political temperature has risen in Assam ahead of the assembly elections. Congress leader Pawan Khera has accused Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife of holding three-nation passports and foreign assets. In response, Himanta has called it a conspiracy and warned of legal action. After these allegations surfaced on Sunday, the matter turned into a political confrontation. Congress leader Pawan Khera presented some documents claiming that Rinki Sarma has passports from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Antigua and Barbuda. He also alleged that she has properties in Dubai. The US has a relationship with a big company in Wyoming, which has a budget of billions of dollars. These properties are not mentioned in the election affidavit. Pawan Khera questioned whether Rinki Sarma also has Indian citizenship, as India does not allow dual citizenship. On the basis of these allegations, there has been a demand for the arrest of the chief minister and cancellation of his candidacy. Along with this, he has appealed to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene in the matter.
