For the first time in the history of Assam Legislative Assembly, Hindi language has been included in the working of the Legislative Assembly. This initiative has been taken under the leadership of Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Ranjeet Kumar Dass. Hindi language along with Assamese, English and Bodo languages will be officially included in the legislative business from July 6, the first day of the budget session of the 16th Assam Legislative Assembly. Das informed that the decision to include Hindi language was taken in the meeting of the General Purposes Committee of Assam Legislative Assembly, which was chaired by him on Saturday. Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Ranjeet Kumar Dass on Sunday said, "The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika, Minister Keshab Mahanta, Leader of Opposition Wajed Ali Choudhury, MLAs Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, Sabharam Basumatary, Chakradhar Gogoi and Jai Prakash Das." The meeting decided to include Hindi language in the Assam Legislative Assembly. Earlier, there were only three languages (Assamese, English and Bodo) and for the first time Hindi language has been included in the budget session of the 16th Assam Legislative Assembly and we have decided to continue it till July 6, the budget session of Assam Legislative Assembly
