Lucknow: With all political parties already sharpening their strategy for the high-voltage assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh next year, politics in the state has taken a new turn. Chandrashekhar Azad, MP from Nagina Lok Sabha seat and chief of the Azad Samaj Party (Kashiram), has officially announced a direct challenge to the ruling BJP and the opposition alliance. Chandrashekhar is going to launch a massive mass contact campaign across the state from June 2 to fill the void created in the Dalit vote bank due to the continuous weakening of Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), which has the potential to completely change the regional equations of Uttar Pradesh. The main objective of this ambitious yatra organized by the Azad Samaj Party is to activate the grassroots workers and woo the traditional voters in all the 75 districts of the state. The Dalit community has a major share of about 21 percent in the politics of Uttar Pradesh, which is considered very crucial to gain the key to power.
