Balochistan Independence Day: A Historical Significance Behind the Celebration

Every year on 11 August, the Baloch community and Baloch nationalist organizations living in many parts of the world celebrate'Balochistan Independence Day '. On the other hand, Pakistan celebrates its independence day on 14 August. On the other hand, the question arises that when today's Balochistan is a part of Pakistan, why do many organizations there celebrate Independence Day on 11 August? Its root is hidden in the events that took place at the time of partition in 1947. Let's understand its history. Historian Taj Mohammad Breisig has written in his book'Baloch Nationalism: Its Origin and Development up to 1980'that on 11 August 1947, an agreement was reached between the Kalat princely state and the Muslim League. That is why many Baloch nationalists consider 11 August as the beginning of their independent identity. The status of Kalat princely state was different from other princely states during the British rule. There was Khan's (ruler) rule and its special treaty with the British government at the time of partition of India. Historian Taj Mohammad Breisig has claimed that Mir Ahmad Khan had declared the separate status of Kalat during the Partition of Pakistan.
