Banerjee Warns of Food and Drink Safety Amid Heat Wave and Campaigning

On Sunday, at a public meeting in Bankura's Chhatna, Banerjee advised people to take special care of their food and drinks to stay healthy amid the scorching heat and campaigning. She said, "Before eating anything outside, you must check if you are eating the right thing." Behind this warning is an incident from Saturday. On the way back from her meeting in Jhargram that day, 16 people fell ill after drinking pesticide mistakenly as ORS. Most of them were from the Shabar community. Among the sick was TMC booth president Tukaram Mahato, who is currently hospitalised. The incident caused a stir in the area. Though everyone is stable after initial treatment, leaders of various political parties are campaigning vigorously across the state ahead of the polls. On Saturday, Banerjee held a series of meetings in Jangalmahal. At the end of her public meeting at Jamdar Circus in Jhargram, Banerjee said that extra caution was needed to avoid eating or drinking outside.
