The new government led by Tarique Rahman in the neighboring country Bangladesh has made a major diplomatic reshuffle after 5 months, which will have a direct impact on India-Bangladesh relations. Bangladesh's Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam is set to be appointed as the new High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India. Asad Alam Siam is counted among the flamboyant diplomats of Bangladesh. The interim government led by Mohammad Yunus also appointed him as the Foreign Secretary on 20 June 2025. He has also been somewhere special to Yunus. Siam joined the Bangladesh Foreign Service in 1995 and since then he has held many important positions in Asia, Europe and North America. Asad Alam Siam has been the Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United States from November 2024 to June 2025. He has also represented Dhaka in the World Bank and IMF. Apart from this, Siam has also served as the Ambassador to Austria and the Philippines. He has also served as the Ambassador to the United Nations Office, the International Energy Fund, and the Dhaka Global Voices Forum.
