Bangladesh Government Promises Security to Returning Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

After Sheikh Hasina's continuous exile in India, she has expressed her desire to return to Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the government of Bangladesh has promised full security to her upon her return. Also, the decision on her future is left to the courts. The Prime Minister's Information and Broadcasting Adviser Zahid Ur Rahman said, "Hasina has said that she will return home in December. When she returns home, she will be given full security and will have to face the judicial process with all legal and constitutional rights. Then everyone will have to accept whatever the court decides." He said that the civil and constitutional rights of people accused of the most serious crimes will be protected (during the 2024 uprising against the Hasina government), whether it is Shakib Al Hasan (who is a former Awami League MP and Bangladeshi cricketer) or Hasina herself. "We do not want to see a mafia rule like Hasina again in this country. We will not allow this to happen in the future," said Zahid, after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a virtual press conference in New Delhi on August 5, in which he said, "No fascist mafia rule will be allowed to run the country."
