Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari was arrested from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on 25 November 2024. He was charged with sedition. He was accused of allegedly insulting the national flag during a rally. His arrest sparked protests across Bangladesh and violent clashes between his supporters and security forces outside the Chittagong court complex on 27 November 2024. Although Chinmoy Krishna Das has been granted bail in the original sedition case and some other cases filed after that, he is yet to be released due to new cases being filed against him. Chinmoy Krishna Das's defence lawyer Apur Kumar Bhattacharya said that the state machinery is constantly trying to keep his client in jail by adding new cases. He said that if the government really wanted, something could be done, but Chinmoy Krishna Das Bhattacharya said that the first six cases filed against him on 24 October 2024 have been "extremely slow."
