Bengaluru Enters Top 20 Global Startup Ecosystems for First Time

Called the tech capital of India, Bengaluru has achieved a new milestone in the world of startups. For the first time, Bengaluru has entered the list of the world's top 20 startup ecosystems. Bengaluru has been ranked 15th in the Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2026. Bengaluru is the only city in India to make it to the list. This report has been released by the global research organization Startup Genome. For this, more than 350 startup ecosystems and more than 5.5 million companies around the world have been analyzed. The report takes into account factors such as policymakers, investors, incubators, accelerators, educational institutions, and funding networks. According to the report, between 2021 and 2025, Bengaluru's startups attracted venture capital investment of $39 billion (about Rs 3. 3 trillion). During this period, the city's startup ecosystem growth rate was 190%, which is significantly higher than the global average of 149%. Bengaluru is also home to 30 Unicorns and startups that are active in the Unicorn ecosystem of Asia. Bengaluru is also the sixth startup ecosystem in Asia to be valued at $1 billion or more.
