Bhopal's Illegal Commercial Establishments: Residents Protest, MLA Demands Action on Master Plan

Vivek Tripathi, a resident of Arera Colony, said that after the directions of the Supreme Court, the required action was not taken on the illegal commercial establishments that the Municipal Corporation had issued notices to seal. He says that the commercial activities in the residential areas are against the rules and will be represented in the court. Advertising Congress MLA Atif Aqueel said that the new master plan of Bhopal has not been implemented for two decades. It is not fair to blame the traders. He demanded the government to implement the master plan soon, saying that a system like'mixed land use'should be adopted on the lines of Gujarat, so that the interests of both traders and residents can be balanced. After the advertisement controversy escalated, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav held a meeting with public representatives and senior officials. In the meeting, it was decided to give relief on the sealing action for the time being. Also, instructions were given to form a high-level committee to review the entire matter. The committee will study the Supreme Court orders and submit its report to the Chief Minister's Office.
