Bihar Administrative Change: Deepak Kumar Removed, Appointed BSDMA Vice Chairman

The major administrative change related to the Chief Minister's Office in Bihar has come to the fore. Senior retired IAS officer Deepak Kumar has been removed from the responsibility of the post of Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister. Deepak Kumar's removal from the CMO is also considered important because he has been among the senior officers who have handled important administrative responsibility during the long Chief Ministership of Nitish Kumar. Deepak Kumar has now been appointed as the Vice Chairman of BSDMA i.e. Bihar State Disaster Management Authority. This change is being seen as a reorganization of the administrative team in the government led by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. Deepak Kumar is an IAS officer of 1984 batch. He has also been the Chief Secretary of Bihar. After retiring on 20 March 2021, he started working as the Principal Secretary to the then Chief Minister Nitish Kumar from 21 March 2021. Later he continued to handle the responsibility in the Chief Minister's Office even after the change of government and Chief Minister. Samrat Chaudhary took charge as the Chief Minister of Bihar on 15 April 2026. Deepak Kumar was listed as the new Principal Secretary to the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority under the CMO. Deepak Kumar was also listed on the Bihar Chief Minister's website until now.
