Bihar Government Appoints New Officials to Key Positions

Vivek Ranjan Maitreya was earlier the District Magistrate of Siwan. He was in the news for firing an AK-47 during a student protest. The government removed him as the DM of Siwan on August 18 and kept him waiting for posting. Only a few days later, he has been given the new responsibility. According to the order issued, Ujjwal Kumar Singh has been made the Special Secretary of the Rural Development Department. The Rural Development Department has an important role in conducting development schemes in rural areas and monitoring various government programs. Under the new responsibility, he will have the challenge of monitoring departmental schemes and speeding up administrative work. Shrikant Shastri has been appointed as the Director of the Animal Husbandry Department. Animal husbandry is a sector directly related to the rural economy and farmers'income in Bihar. The Director has an important role in implementing, monitoring and effectively conducting the administrative activities of the department.
