The elections to 8 seats of the Bihar Legislative Council have brought to the fore the ongoing tussle within the Grand Alliance over seat sharing and mutual understanding. After the RJD fielded candidates on 6 seats, the Congress has also announced candidates on 5 seats. Four of these seats will see a face-off. The Congress list has received the approval of party president Mallikarjun Kharge. In the council elections, the strategy of not fielding candidates against each other within the Grand Alliance has suffered a major setback. The Congress has fielded Manoj Kumar Jaiswal from Kosi Graduates, Rajnikant Pathak from Darbhanga Graduates and Asadullah Khan from Patna Graduates. The RJD has already fielded Nitesh Kumar, Anil Kumar Jha and Dilip Kumar respectively. In Patna Teachers seat too, the Congress has fielded Dr. Sanjay Yadav against RJD's Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh. In Darbhanga Teachers seat, the Congress has again fielded its sitting MLC Dr. Madan Mohan Jha.
