A new controversy has erupted in Bihar politics over the educational qualification of Nishant Kumar, son of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has claimed that Nishant Kumar, who was described as an engineer for years, is not really an engineer and is only 12th pass. The controversy started when the educational details recorded in his election affidavit became a matter of public discussion. According to the affidavit, Nishant Kumar had passed the 12th examination from Patna Science College in the year 1998. After this, he had enrolled himself in the Bachelor of Engineering course at the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi. However, the affidavit mentions that he did not complete his engineering degree. According to the document, he completed only five semesters out of the eight required for the degree and left the course in the year 2001. The affidavit also records that he is not a graduate. After these revelations, the RJD launched a scathing attack on Nitish Kumar and the Janata Dal United political platform. According to the affidavit, Nishant Kumar himself did not complete his Bachelor of Engineering course in the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi. However, the affidavit mentions that Nishant Kumar did not complete five semesters out of the eight required for the degree.
