Of the five Rajya Sabha MPs from Bihar whose term ends on April 9, only two will be able to return to Parliament. Prem Chand Gupta and AD Singh of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Harivansh Narayan Singh of the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) are unlikely to make it. Among the two who will return are Union minister Ram Nath Thakur of the JD-U and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) president Upendra Kushwaha. One name has been announced, the other is awaited. JD-U president Nitish Kumar is sending Ram Nath Thakur, son of former chief minister and Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur, for the third time, party sources have told the media. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made Kushwaha the fifth Rajya Sabha candidate who will also need the support of Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi's MLAs to win. Tejashwi Yadav has announced a candidate from the RJD.
