The Bengal BJP leadership is in Delhi to finalise the list of candidates for the remaining 39 seats for the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026. State president Samik Bhattacharya is meeting with the BJP's central leadership on Saturday. Basically, the party is trying to take a very cautious approach to the remaining seats, keeping in mind the discontent among the workers in different parts of the state over the candidate list released earlier. According to sources, Samik Bhattacharya will initially meet with the RSS leadership and West Bengal in-charge Bhupendra Yadav and Amit Malviya. But the most important meeting is likely to take place on Sunday. The final outline of the candidate list is likely to be made at JP Nadda's residence in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. According to BJP sources, the opinion of the local leaders and workers as well as the internal report of the central leaders has been given special importance in the selection of candidates this time. The decision of the central leadership on multiple seats is the last one. The party does not want to change the name of the candidates in the first round, as well as the possibility of internal disputes.
