On Saturday morning, news came that a bus of BJP workers going to Brigade was vandalised. TMC workers allegedly stopped the bus and vandalised the bus. By evening, the driver's statement was changed. The BJP claimed that the bus driver changed his statement out of fear of the police. The incident took place at around 5: 30 am on Saturday in Patli area of Belda police station in Paschim Medinipur district. On Saturday evening, the driver Ranjit Raul said, "The bus was supposed to go to Brigade from Aharamunda. On the way there in the middle of the morning, some youths stopped my car. They were BJP men. They had their party flags in their hands. They said,'We don't have people, people have been shortchanged, we won't go. We will vandalise your car.'The vandalism started soon after. The driver said,'After vandalising the car, I got very scared and took the car back from there. When the reporters asked me, I said that the TMC MLA broke the bus, but not the BJP.
