BJP Expected to Announce New West Bengal Chief Minister Soon

The Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to announce the name of the new West Bengal chief minister soon. There are reports that the BJP is going to hold a big meeting in this regard on Friday. It is likely to be followed by the announcement of the name of the leader of the legislative party. The BJP has appointed Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the observer for Bengal. The BJP has won 207 seats in Bengal. A meeting of BJP MLAs is going to be held in the capital Kolkata on Friday. Sources have reported that Adhikari will be elected as the leader of the legislative party at this meeting. Sources have been quoted as saying that BJP state chief Shamik Bhattacharya will propose Adhikari's name and Shah will announce his name. The BJP has decimated the Trinamool Congress by winning 207 seats in the 293-member assembly and ended its 15-year rule in the state. However, the party has not yet formally announced the chief ministerial candidate, but senior leaders, including Shah, had hinted during the next year's campaign that Mamata Banerjee would be the chief minister of West Bengal.
