BJP Faces Internal Turmoil Over Candidate Selection in West Bengal

In the run-up to the assembly elections, the situation surrounding the Beleghata seat is becoming increasingly complex. The Bharatiya Janata Party's state leadership is extremely uneasy about the candidate selection. Party sources say that the possibility of changing the candidate to assuage the anger of the workers and supporters has been strengthened. Partha Chowdhury has now been announced as the BJP's candidate for the Beleghata seat. The ruling Trinamool Congress has nominated former Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh for this seat. However, there is a strong resentment within the BJP around Partha Chowdhury. A section of the local leadership has publicly expressed anger against him. Party workers allege that the candidate selection is benefiting the opponent. That is why protests have been held demanding the withdrawal of Partho Chowdhury's candidature several times. The situation has become so heated that workers have to protest in front of the party office in Salt Lake. BJP leader Locket Chatterjee can be seen giving a stern message to the workers. State BJP president Shamik Bhattacharya is also trying to bring the situation under control.
