BJP Fields Arun Lakhani for Local Body Elections Amid Family Ties to NCP Leader

Arun Lakhani's son Sarang is set to marry NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule's daughter Revati. The BJP has fielded Lakhani from the Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli local bodies constituency. Raut told reporters that Lakhani has been in the list of people from Vidarbha since the beginning who have strengthened the RSS in every way. He also said that there are many leaders in Parliament from Maharashtra who have their roots in the RSS. Lakhani has never been in the Congress or the NCP (SP). The last date for filing nominations for the Adhiveshan Parishad elections is June 1. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 2. Names can be withdrawn by June 4. Counting of votes will take place in Aurangabad on June 22. The elections are being held in 16 local body areas.
