Jai Devi Kaushal, a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Malihabad seat in Lucknow, has raised the issue of caste discrimination against him during the renovation program of Sheetla Mandir in Kakori. Vikas Kishore, son of the MLA, took strong objection to the treatment meted out to him and said that the pandit of the temple discriminated against the public representative. Vikas Kishore, son of the BJP MLA, wrote a long post on his Facebook and expressed his displeasure over the whole matter. He said that "Even after 80 years of independence, if the representatives of the people are discriminated against on the basis of caste in any religious place, it is a very serious and worrying matter. After the sanction of funds from the Tourism Department for the renovation of the Sheetla Temple in the revolutionary land Kakori, the foundation stone and the groundbreaking ceremony was proposed today. On this occasion, along with the regional MLA Jai Devi Kaushal, Kakori President Rohit Sahu, BJP Mandal President Vipin Gopi Rajput, District Office Minister Raviraj Lodhi and Lavkush Yadav, many public representatives and activists were present.
