State Bureau, Bhopal. Former Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra has suffered a setback in the by-election to Datia Assembly seat. The BJP has set aside all possibilities and made Ashutosh Tiwari the official candidate for the by-election. Ashutosh Tiwari originally comes from the background of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He has been the divisional organization minister in the Bhopal-Sagar division. He has also been the chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Home Construction Board in the previous BJP government. Tiwari, who had the status of a minister, is considered a supporter of Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Narottam Mishra, who was also convinced of the ticket, had bought the nomination paper. Former Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti did not get relief from the Delhi High Court, the sentence was upheld. Congress's Rajendra Bharti won the 2023 assembly election from here. But in a case of bank FD fraud, the special MP-MLA court of Delhi had sentenced Bharti to three years imprisonment. Bharti had also challenged it in the Delhi High Court. His appeal was rejected on Friday.
