BJP Sweeps Gujarat Civic Polls, Wins 937 Seats Out of 1,044

Ahmedabad, તા.29: In the civic polls held in Gujarat, the BJP won 90 per cent of the seats. The opposition was reduced to 10 per cent. The results of the elections to 15 municipal corporations, 84 municipalities, 34 district panchayats and 260 taluka panchayats in the state were announced. 736 of these seats were declared uncontested before the elections. The BJP won 937 of the 1,044 seats in 15 municipal corporations. The results announced today show the BJP winning all the 15 municipal corporations. Gandhidham, Rajkot, Morbi, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, Ahmedabad, Mehsana, Vadodara, Surat, Anand, Nadiad, Navsari and Vapi out of the total 1,044 seats in 15 municipal corporations, the BJP won 937 seats and the Congress won 95 seats. Others won 12 seats. The BJP won 115 in Surat Municipal Corporation and 160 in Ahmedabad.
