BJP to Hold Historic Swearing-in Ceremony at Brigade Parade Ground

Kolkata, Dec 8: West Bengal's political history is witnessing a huge and historic change. After a historic victory in the assembly elections with a thumping majority, now the grand swearing-in ceremony of the new leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party's legislature party and the first BJP chief minister of the state is going to be held at the famous Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. According to political experts, this is the same historic parade ground from where decades ago, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee had raised her political sun by blowing a trumpet against the rule of the Left parties. Now the clock has turned and on the same ground, on the day of Rabindra Jayanti tomorrow, the BJP is going to formally launch its rule. This Brigade Parade Ground, which is the heart of Kolkata city, is spread over about 400 acres and is the largest open ground in eastern India. This field prepared for military exercises by the British East India Company in the 19th century, has seen many historic meetings of the freedom struggle. Earlier, Left leader Jyoti Basu and millions of people had gathered here to take the oath of power.
