New Delhi, 29: The BJP has won 75 per cent of the total seats in the local body elections as compared to 2021 and has also registered a partial decline in the voting share. Out of 310 seats 6 years ago, only Congress got a mandate with a majority to rule in 19 taluka panchayats and 1 municipality. In this election, the voting share, along with 24 per cent elected public representatives, Congress and AAP have registered their presence in 360 out of 393 municipalities with a mandate. From Bhuj in Kutch to Sake Vapi Municipal Corporation, Ambaji-Danta to Sake Dwarika and from Kvant in Chhotaudepur to Savarkundla in Saurashtra, the strength of elected public representatives of opposition to BJP has increased in every institution. After 18 months, small pockets of AAP-Congress will become big islands in the assembly elections of 2027. At the end of the counting of votes on Tuesday night, 10 am, the results of 9.989 seats were declared.
