BJP's State Legal Convener in Tamil Nadu Resigns Following Party Leader's Departure

Chennai: Abhilash Gopinathan resigns from the post of State Legal Convener, BJYM and from the primary membership of the BJP in Tamil Nadu today. Gopinathan’s resignation comes following K Annamalai’s resignation from Bharatiya Janata Party today. Former Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai on Friday announced that he will form a new political “movement”, which will contest in the next Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Abhilash Gopinathan’s X post reads, “On 19 July 2021, inspired by the leadership and vision of Thalaivar Annamalai Anna, I began my journey in the Bharatiya Janata Party. His call to groom 500 leaders for the future was not just a statement. It was a mission that inspired countless youngsters like me to step into public life and contribute to society. Over the years, the party has given me invaluable opportunities to learn, serve, and grow. As the Youth Wing State Legal Convenor of BJP Tamil Nadu, I had the privilege of working alongside dedicated karyakartas and contributing to the organisation through various legal initiatives……. Today, after careful thought, I have decided to follow the path of my Thalaivar. Wherever that path leads, however challenging it may be, I will stand with him and support his vision to the best of my ability…..” Abhilash Gopinathan’s resignation letter reads, “I hereby tender my resignation from the post of State Legal Convenor, Bharathiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Tamil Nadu, and from the primary membership of the Bharathiya Janata Party, with immediate effect. My decision is driven by my conviction to follow the path and vision of Thalaivar K. Annamalai anna, whose leadership, integrity, and commitment to public life inspired me to enter politics and continue to influence my political journey. I sincerely thank you for your constant encouragement, opportunities and for the confidence reposed in me.
