BJP's Ticket Allocation for Local Body Elections Stalls Over Leader Re-Appointment

Rajkot, તા.10: A marathon churning of ticket allocation is going on in the BJP for the local body elections. Though the parliamentary board meeting has been going on for the last three days till 3 pm yesterday, the final decision on the names of the candidates could not be announced, due to which there is a lot of suspense in the political circles. In the morning, the meeting of the election committee has started again. All the district and metropolitan presidents of the state have been ordered to start the process of filing nomination forms immediately and keep all the preparations complete. According to party sources, the names of the candidates for all the seats can be announced anytime today. The biggest complication in ticket allocation is whether to give tickets to the leaders who have previously held the post of mayor, deputy mayor, standing committee chairman or district panchayat president again as corporator or member. The parliamentary board has not been able to take any unanimous decision on this issue, which has delayed the announcement of the list for all the municipal corporations at one place, keeping in mind the second, the need to give tickets to the mayors.
