BSP MLA Umashankar Singh Passes Away After Battle with Cancer

Bahujan Samaj Party leader and BSP MLA from Rasda, Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, Umashankar Singh passed away on Wednesday, 5 August 2026. He died in a hospital in Delhi. Umashankar had reached the assembly in the elections held in the year 2022. Umashankar was the only leader who could win that election on a BSP ticket. Umashankar, who was suffering from cancer, had also gone to America for treatment. As soon as the news of Umashankar's death broke, a wave of grief swept the political corridors of UP. Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav has expressed grief over the death of the BSP MLA.
