Chennai Super Kings Defeat Delhi Capitals in IPL Match

Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals (DC) were defeated by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by eight wickets in the 48th match of IPL 2026. CSK chased down the target with 15 balls to spare after restricting DC to 155/7 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. On a pitch where other batsmen were struggling, Chennai opener Sanju Samson played a whirlwind knock of 87 runs. He hit seven fours and 6 sixes after facing 52 balls. He was named the Player of the Match. Delhi captain Axar's biggest regret after the loss was that if the team had scored 10-15 runs more, the fortunes could have turned against CSK. Axar said after the defeat at the hands of CSK, "The way the wicket was playing in the first innings, I thought 155 was a good score. But we were playing with eight batsmen, so we were 10-15 runs behind the wickets. However, the new batsman was never going to stop.
