China-India Ties: Prioritizing Interests Amid Normalization Efforts

In a meeting held in Delhi, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told NSA Ajit Doval that China and India are partners, not competitors. AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi said on Wednesday (24 June 2026) that every Indian citizen wants normal and peaceful relations with China, but it cannot be on China's terms alone. Hyderabad MP Owaisi said in a post on X, "India's interests must be paramount and cannot be ignored in trying to restore normalcy with China. This has always been our policy and it would be a big mistake to change it now." He wrote that China wants India to put aside the border dispute to normalize relations between the two countries, but it is not willing to do anything in return. AIMIM chief Owaisi said that China provides military assistance to Pakistan on the ground and has refused to share data related to the Brahmaputra river water with India.
