Commission Chairman Madan Lal Bhati and members of the Commission met Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma at the Chief Minister's residence and submitted the report for the year 2026. The report has been prepared under the process of Supreme Court's triple test, after which OBC reservation will be determined in the local body elections. The Chief Minister said that the State Government is committed to strengthening democracy at the grassroots level and is working fast towards holding the local body elections on time. He said that the preparations for the panchayat and urban body elections are progressing and the government aims to complete the election process in a time-bound manner. The Chief Minister also mentioned the concept of'One State-One Election'on this occasion. This will maintain continuity in development works and save time, money and administrative resources. After the report is submitted, the government will now prepare the final draft of OBC reservation. After this, the State Election Commission will be able to go ahead with the process of notification and schedule of panchayat and urban body elections. This is the first time that OBC reservation will be decided on the basis of local body elections.
