Confusion Over Smart Meter Recharge in Uttar Pradesh

Smart Meter Recharge Needed?: Recently, the Uttar Pradesh government completely abolished the smart electricity meter system. After this, it was being told that the people who have smart meters installed here will also work like postpaid meters. However, despite this, people have found that the balance of their prepaid meters continues to be cut and people are in a dilemma whether to recharge the smart meter or not. We tried to get an answer on the UPPCL helpline number 1912, to which we were told that the balance of the electricity meter will continue to be cut until the customer's meter status is changed from smart meter to postpaid meter. Also, on the question of recharge, it was told that keep recharging the electricity meter or else the connection may be cut. In such a situation, the question arises that if the smart meter system is over, then why do people need to recharge the meter? It was also found that the UPPCL helpline did not have information about when the people need to switch to the prepaid meter despite the smart meter system being closed.
