The Congress has levelled serious allegations against the BJP and the Election Commission over the rejection of Rajya Sabha candidate from Madhya Pradesh Meenakshi Natarajan's nomination paper. The party has claimed collusion between the two, calling it a new example of "seat theft." The Congress says the decision to cancel the nomination has been taken on faulty and irrational grounds. At a press conference held in Delhi, Meenakshi Natarajan said that the Form-26 she submitted with the nomination was completely filled. According to her, there was no separate column in the form to give information about any personal legal notice. She clarified that there is no pending criminal case against her, but only a legal notice, which has not yet been taken cognizance of by the court. Therefore, she wrote "Not Applicable" in the corresponding column. Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari said that this is the first time in Indian politics that the nomination of a Rajya Sabha candidate has been rejected in this way. He alleges that the BJP did not have enough MLAs to win a third seat, so Singhar and other political leaders of the country also tried to cancel the nomination.
