Congress Chief Announces Priority for Party Workers Amid Internal Squabbles

Addressing the discontent among the party cadre, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief B. Mahesh Goud said on Monday, August 24, that those who have consistently worked for the party will be given priority even as he acknowledged that that hadn’t happened in the past three years of the Congress rule. Addressing the media after the Congress Public Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting, Goud said that in nominated posts, the DCC presidents, block Congress presidents, and others will get top priority. The Congress will decide on these soon, he said. PCC andOn internal squabbles coming out in the open in the wake of Minister Konda Surekha’s daughter Sushmita’s comments, the PCC President said that the disciplinary committee had given its preliminary report to the AICC and PCC and that the party command will soon take action on this. Anyone working against the party will not be tolerated, he said. A day ago, speaking to party workers at a meeting in Nizamabad district, Goud said that there had been demands that even grassroots-level workers be given opportunities. He said that while filling vacancies, a balance would be maintained among all sections of the party. The controversy started at an event in Geesukonda, Warangal district, earlier this month, where Konda Surekha’s supporters celebrated her birthday, and her daughter, Sushmita Patel, attended as chief guest. There, Sushmita announced that she would contest the upcoming elections from Parakala, adding that she would run as an independent if the party high command denied her a ticket. She also made sharp comments against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The remarks soon went viral on social media, prompting the Congress high command to take note. Party affairs in-charge, Meenakshi Natarajan, asked the Telangana PCC for a report on the matter, while Disciplinary Committee chairman and MP Mallu Ravi sought an explanation from Konda Surekha. In her response, Konda Surekha said her daughter’s remarks were her personal views.
