Congress Demands Special Investigation Team (SIT) for Corruption Allegations

The Congress said that earlier on June 22, too, a memorandum was submitted to Collector Sarguja demanding the formation of an SIT to investigate the matter. On June 27, a Congress delegation went to Ajak police station to inquire about the action taken on the complaint. There the police informed that since the case is not under the jurisdiction of the police station, neither an FIR has been registered nor an investigation has been started. During the meeting with the Superintendent of Police, Leader of Opposition Shafi Ahmed said that after the complaint of the Mayor, the matter has become multifaceted. On the one hand, the audio in the complaint is said to be AI-generated, on the other hand, the viral conversation points to serious allegations of corruption. In such a situation, the formation of an SIT is necessary for a fair and time-bound investigation of the whole matter. He said that the truth of the whole matter can be revealed by examining the voice samples, forensic investigation and call records of the concerned people. During the discussion with the media, he said that if the concerned public parties do not record their calls, then the matter will be investigated and the Congress will not even knock the doors of the SIT.
