Congress-DMK Alliance Deteriorates: From 'Brother of Ideas' to Formal Greetings

Former Tamil Nadu CM Stalin's birthday greeting to Rahul Gandhi is a vivid example of how a year apart in politics can transform relationships. While last year Stalin called Rahul a "brother of ideas," this time the congratulatory message was purely formal. The growing distance between the Congress and the DMK has become a deep gulf. The difference between the two messages reflects the current state of the Congress-DMK alliance. The journey from warm, friendly to formal, and personal to professional began after the Tamil Nadu elections. The Congress decided to ally with TVK (Tamilaga Vetrik Kazhagam), which angered the DMK. The DMK not only downgraded ties with the Congress but also did not attend the INDIA block meeting. Recently, it wrote a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker demanding separate seating arrangements. Rahul responded to Stalin's message with a conciliatory message, saying, "This will continue to show us the path to save our Constitution and save our spirit of federalism."
