Malda: On the final day of the election, Tohidur Rahman joined Congress in the Manikchak assembly constituency. On Monday, he formally joined Congress by holding the hand of District Congress President Isha Khan Chowdhury. Interestingly, Tohidur had filed his nomination from Manikchak constituency as a candidate for the Aam Janta Development Party and his name and symbol (Bansi) were already registered in the EVM. Sources say that Tohidur decided to resign due to his anger against party chairman Humayun Kabir. Tohidur Rahman alleged that his work was not being given due respect within the party. He sent his resignation letter after the candidate list was finalized. At around 11 am on Monday, in the presence of Isha Khan Chowdhury, he picked up the Congress flag and changed the course of his fight. EVM malfunction and Tohidur's appeal: Although he had the'Bansi'symbol next to his name in the EVM, Tohidur Rahman is now appealing to the voters to vote for him instead of the Congress symbol.
