Congress Leaders Discuss Protest on Gandhi Jayanti to Counter BJP's Celebrations

Shashi Tharoor, Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, suggested at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting today that the party should hold a big protest on Gandhi Jayanti. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, You should also participate in the protest and not just write articles in English newspapers. The leaders present at the meeting laughed. In fact, the Congress Working Committee meeting on Tuesday went on for about two and a half hours, where many leaders praised Rahul Gandhi. The meeting also discussed the party's future course of action. There was light banter and laughter. When Tharoor suggested that the Congress should hold an event on Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, he argued that the BJP could use the occasion to build its image. Kharge turned to Tharoor and asked if the party holds such an event, will he really attend it or will he be seen in the English newspapers for the first time.
