The matter of alleged financial irregularities in the offerings and donations received from devotees at the Ram temple in Ayodhya has now reached Parliament. Congress MP and AICC general secretary KC Venugopal has given a notice of adjournment motion on this issue in the Lok Sabha. He has written a letter to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and has demanded an immediate discussion on the matter and an independent and high-level investigation by the Central Government under the supervision of a judge of the Supreme Court. Venugopal alleged that serious allegations of financial fraud, theft and embezzlement on a large scale in the cash offerings and precious ornaments given by devotees from home and abroad in the Ram temple have come to light. He said that an independent investigation is necessary to bring out the truth of the whole matter, to ensure the safety of the offerings of the devotees and to take strict action against those responsible. In a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Venugopal said that in recent reports, it has come to light that an organized gang was allegedly active within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
