Congress Protests in Patna Over Alleged Electoral Malpractices and 'Vote Theft'

The Congress held a protest in Patna over allegations of alleged electoral malpractices and'vote theft '. The protest, called by the All India Congress Committee, saw party workers raise slogans against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and demand his arrest. The Congress also demanded a probe into the changes in the electoral rolls. The march, which started from the National Hall in Kadamkuan, proceeded to Dinkar Golambar via the main road. During the protest, Congress workers also burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Chief Election Commissioner. There were scuffles between the police and the protesters. Patna Municipal Corporation president Kumar Ashish, who was leading the protest, questioned the functioning of the Election Commission. He alleged that serious questions were being raised about the transparency in the electoral process. The party demanded an investigation into these allegations and action against those responsible. There were reports of police and Congress workers exchanging water cannons during the protest.
