Kolkata: The Congress on Sunday released its biggest and most decisive list for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, naming 284 candidates out of a total of 294 seats. The Congress has made it clear that it is in no mood to compromise this time. The biggest name in the list is former state president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, who has been given a ticket from his stronghold Berhampore. Apart from fielding an influential leader like Mausam Noor from Malatipur, the Congress has tried to strengthen its hold in Muslim-dominated areas. As per the Election Commission's order, the crown of Bengal's power will be decided in two important phases. The first phase of polling will be held on April 23, with 152 seats in the eastern and northern parts of the state. Then, on April 29, the second phase of polling will be held. The results of these two phases will be declared on May 4, which will decide whether the Congress-Left front succeeds in dethroning Mamata Banerjee or the BJP.
