Political blame game has intensified after the tragic deaths in the collapse of a five-storey building in Saidullajab area of South Delhi. The Aam Aadmi Party has demanded accountability of the BJP, MCD administration and concerned officials, calling the incident a result of illegal construction and rampant corruption in the Municipal Corporation. Party leaders have alleged that despite complaints, action was not taken, which led to many people losing their lives. Delhi Pradesh President Saurabh Bharadwaj launched a scathing attack on the BJP and MCD administration over the incident. He said that an organised mechanism of illegal construction and corruption is at work within the Municipal Corporation, where construction work does not stop despite complaints being lodged. According to him, construction continues even after buildings are booked in many cases and the governor allegedly takes bribes for each floor of construction. Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the buildings against which action should be taken are fully prepared and up to the population. He said that if the MCD administration does not respond to the complaints, then the situation is serious.
