The unseasonal rains and hailstorms in Delhi have taken a toll on the hard work of the farmers and now the political rhetoric on the issue has also intensified. Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav has accused the government of ignoring the farmers and demanded immediate compensation. Devender Yadav said that the heavy rains and hailstorms have caused heavy damage to both standing and harvested crops in the Delhi countryside. The wheat crop was close to being harvested, but the onslaught of the weather almost ruined it. He reiterated his demand for compensation of Rs 50,000 per acre to the affected farmers from the government and appealed for immediate payment. He said that after the rains, the wheat, mustard and vegetable crops have suffered extensive damage, which has put the farmers in a serious economic crisis. The farmers hope that the government will understand their situation and provide relief soon. He demanded the government to assess the crop loss immediately and start the process of compensation. Devender Yadav accused the BJP of being anti-farmer and said that it was not a new thing. He also accused Rahul Gandhi of opposing the three new laws and said that the government understood that the farmers were protesting against the three international laws.
