The Delhi government has taken a major decision regarding ration cards, after which those earning Rs. 2.50 lakh per annum in Delhi will also be able to get their ration cards made. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has proposed to increase the limit of ration cards from Rs. 1.20 lakh to 2.50 lakh. She said that a discussion has been held in the cabinet to increase the income limit of Rs. 2.50 lakh for ration cards. This decision will be approved in the next cabinet meeting. Apart from this, Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi government has cancelled more than 7 lakh ration cards. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, she said that the government has cancelled about 772,000 illegal ration cards and has asked for new online applications. The Chief Minister of Delhi said that no new ration card was issued in Delhi for the last 13 years. After a thorough investigation, the government removed 144,000 people who did not fit into the income rules. Also, 35,800 people who were not getting ration cards. 29,580 people have died. Rekha Gupta said that the purpose of increasing the income limit of ration cards in Delhi is 23 lakh.
