The Delhi government has already started preparing to deal with air pollution in the upcoming winter. The government has notified the Proactive Winter Air Quality Management Framework, under which several important steps will be taken to control pollution in the winter months. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that this time the government will not wait for pollution to increase, but is already giving people and institutions time to prepare by informing them of possible restrictions and arrangements. According to the Delhi government, the air quality of the capital often reaches very poor and severe category between November and February. Keeping this in mind, this new framework has been prepared. It aims to take timely action and establish better coordination between different agencies. Under the new arrangement, only those vehicles will get fuel at all petrol pumps in Delhi which will have a valid PUC i.e. pollution under control certificate. The government believes that this will help in controlling the polluting vehicles. Apart from this, private vehicles registered outside Delhi from 1st to 6th of January will be exempted from the ban on non-compulsory entry of CNG and non-electric vehicles during this winter.
