Former MLA from Datia in Madhya Pradesh, Rajendra Bharti, has received a major setback from the Delhi High Court. The court rejected his appeal in the bank fraud case and did not grant relief on his demand to challenge the conviction. He has already been sentenced to 3 years in this case, after which his MLA also left. In fact, Rajendra Bharti was convicted in an old cooperative bank FD scam and fraud case by the MP-MLA Special Court in Rouse Avenue, Delhi. The court sentenced him to 3 years in jail on 2 April 2026. After this, he approached the Delhi High Court. At the same time, the Election Commission has announced the schedule of voting in Datia seat on 30 July 2026 and results on 3 August 2026. The Delhi High Court had earlier suspended his jail sentence. However, his demand to stay the conviction was not granted relief. Now the court has also rejected his appeal. Rajendra Bharti had sought relief from the electoral court on the legal process of success in this case.
