Delhi High Court Rejects Sushil Kumar's Bail Plea in Murder Case

Amar Ujala Bureau Delhi | The regular bail plea of Olympian Sushil Kumar, accused in the murder of wrestler Sagar Dhankar in May 2021, has been rejected by the Delhi High Court. The bench of Justice Purushendra Kumar Kaurav refused to grant relief while dismissing Sushil Kumar's plea. Sushil Kumar, while seeking bail, had argued that the Rohini court has examined all the key prosecution witnesses. He had challenged the trial court's February 6 order denying bail. Sagar Dhankar's father had opposed Sushil Kumar's regular bail plea in the trial court. Earlier, the high court had granted regular bail to Sushil Kumar in March 2025. However, the Supreme Court on 13 August 2025 cancelled his bail saying that crucial witnesses are yet to be examined. Thereafter, Sushil Kumar surrendered on 20 August 2025. In the bail plea, Sushil Kumar argued that there is no possibility of influencing or tampering with the evidence in the case.
